LUCKNOW: A film that many film buffs believe is biopic on the life of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has run into trouble with a section of BJP leaders filing a first information report against filmmaker Vinod Tiwari.
The BJP leaders have also threatened not to all the release of the film as it has wrongly projected the image of Yogi, a UNI report said.
The controversy started after the filmmaker released the first teaser in which a saffron clad man showing his back with a pistol in his hand. Though the filmmakers said it was not the picture of the UP CM, BJP leaders are not convinced and have moved the police.
Speculations started after a movie poster titled "Zila Gorakhpur" was released on Saturday, July 29. Twitter is abuzz with rumours that the man resembles Adityanath.
A cow is also seen in the poster, which further suggests it could be a film on the UP CM since he has often expressed his love and respect for the animal. Vinod Tiwari had recently made his directorial debut with Teri Bhabhi Hai Pagle, Ibtimes reports.
He shared the first look on Twitter with a caption that revealed that the movie will focus on the issue of mob lynching. However, he did not mention anything about Yogi Adityanath in the caption but going by the look and title of the film, it is quite evident that it might be based on the controversial politician.
The Ibtimes repor said that going by Vinod's earlier tweets, he appears to be a Bharatiya Janata Party supporter, and thus, the movie might be pro-BJP in nature.
