CHENNAI: The dubbed version of the box office hit Naachiyaar is expected to be released soon in Andhra and Telangana. Jyothika’s performance in the film as tough cop in the Tamil version has received wide acclamation. The Telugu version will be titled Jhansi. The name of the title role played by Jyothika in Telugu version will also be Jhansi instead of Naachiyaar.
Earlier, the plan was to rope in the Baahubali fame Anushka Shetty in the lead role in Telugu version. But as Aushka was busy with a slew of other projects, director Bala decided
to make the dubbed version. Moreover, Jyothika’s huge fan following in Telugu speaking
states made him think of the dubbed version.
Script and direction of the film produced under the banner B Studios were done by Bala himself. The Telugu dubbing rights were acquired by DV Cine Creations and Kalpana Chitra for a price of Rs 90 lakhs.
The star cast of the movie includes music director turned actor G V Prakash Kumar, Iavana and Rockline Venkatesh.
Bala, the director of several award winning movies, is also busy with the remake of Telugu blockbuster Arjun Reddy into Tamil. The role done by Vijay Devarakonda in the original will be reprised by Vikram’s son and debutante actor Dhruv in the Tamil version. The Tamil version of the film will be titled Varma.
Bala had won national award for best direction for Naan Kadavul in 2009. His first directorial debut Sethu had won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Tamil, the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Director and the Filmfare Award for Best Director – Tamil.
