OSCAR 2018 Nominations: Ceremony on March 4th

Oscar 2018 nominations were announced on Tuesday in Beverly Hills. Nine pictures are nominated for ‘Best Picture’ category.

  2. Darkest Hour
  3. Dunkirk
  4. Get Out
  5. Lady Bird
  6. Phantom Thread
  7. The Post
  8. The Shape of Water
  9. Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri

For ‘Best Director’, Christopher Nolan (Dunkirk), Jordan Peele (Get Out), Greta Gerwig (Ladybird), Paul Thomas Anderson (Phantom Thread) and Guillermo del Toro (The Shape of Water) are nominated.

For the ‘Animated Feature’, the following five are on the list

  1. The Boss Baby
  2. The Breadwinner
  3. Coco
  4. Ferdinand
  5. Loving Vincent

The Shape of Water received 13 nominations and rules the roost of 2018 Academy Award nominations now.

For the ‘Lead Actor’, Timothée Chalamet, (Call Me by Your Name), Daniel Day-Lewis (Phantom Thread), Daniel Kaluuya (Get Out), Gary Oldman, (Darkest Hour) and Denzel Washington (Roman J. Israel, Esq.) are nominated. While Timothée Chalamet is the youngest of all the five, Denzel Washington is the oldest on the final list.

The last five for the ‘Lead Actress’ are Sally Hawkins (The Shape of Water), Frances McDormand (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri), Margot Robbie( “I, Tonya), Saoirse Ronan (Lady Bird) and Meryl Streep (The Post). Streep has won the award three times earlier and if she is the Best Actress this time, she and the legendary actress Katherine Hepburn will be the only two actresses to hold the record of four academy awards won by an actor so far.

Many actors shared their excitement in social media this morning about their films being nominated. The 90th Academy Awards ceremony will be held on March 4th at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California. It will be hosted by the same host of 2017 Academy Awards, Jimmy Kimmel.
