MUMBAI: Deepika Padukone is all set to star in the upcoming sports drama, ‘83’ with actor Ranveer Singh.
Deepika Padukone husband and actor Ranveer made the announcement on Wednesday on Twitter.
The film is based on the legendary cricketer Kapil Dev, who lifted the World Cup for India in 1983 and also coached the team from October 1999 to August 2000.
The 'Bajirao Mastani' actor, who is essaying the role of Kapil Dev, has been sweating out to get into the character.
As per the report, Deepika will play the role of Romi Dev, wife to cricketing legend Kapil Dev.
"Who better to play My Wifey than My Wifey?! Deepika Padukone plays Romi Dev in ‘83’, the film! Genius casting courtesy kabirkhankk," he tweeted.
This will be the duo's fourth collaboration after last year's release "Padmavati".
Earlier, the actor had shared a video, which showed him working out in a gym and practising on a cricket pitch in the picturesque town of Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh. The clip also features the actor training with Kapil Dev.
Apart from the Ranveer Singh, the film also stars R Badree, Hardy Sandhu, Chirag Patil, Saqib Saleem, Pankaj Tripathi, Tahir Bhasin, Ammy Virk and Saahil Khattar as the Men in Blue.
"83" is produced by Madhu Mantena, Vishnu Induri and Kabir, and presented by Reliance Entertainment.
The movie shooting is underway in Glasgow and slated to hit the theatres on April 10, 2020.
