MUMBAI: The streaming service on Tuesday announced that the second season of critically-acclaimed original series "Sacred Games" is set to premiere on August 15.
The official Twitter account of the streaming platform's India chapter shared the news, along with the trailer of the series.
In the trailer, we see some faces from the first season but there are a few new faces as well.
Saif Ali Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui will reprise their parts as Sartaj Singh and Ganesh Gaitonde, and the new season will see Pankaj Tripathi in a full-fledged role as the mysterious Guruji.
Actors Ranvir Shorey and Kalki Koechlin join the cast in this year.
Like season one, Anurag Kashyap is at the helm of the portions featuring Siddiqui, while Neeraj Ghaywan of "Masaan" fame will direct the scenes with Khan.
Vikramaditya Motwane and Varun Grover are returning as the showrunner and the lead writer respectively.
Sacred Games is based on the book of the same name by Vikram Chandra and the series is written by an excellent team of writers including Varun Grover.
The first season was applauded for its excellent performances, writing, direction and music.
