DANTEWADA: Two Naxals were killed in an encounter with security forces in Chhattisgarh's Dantewada district in the early hours on Wednesday.
The exchange of fire between the Naxals and a joint team of District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Special Task Force (STF) started at 5 am in Gonderas jungle at Aranpur police station area.
As per the report, the patrolling team was moving through Gonderas, located along the border of Dantewada-Sukma districts, when a group of the ultras fired at them, leading to the gun-battle.
After the exchange of fire stopped, bodies of two Maoists, including a woman, were recovered from the spot.
Besides that one INSAS rifle and one 12 Bore weapon with ammunition and other incriminating materials have been recovered.
The identities of the deceased are yet to be identified.
As per the report, no harm was reported to the security personnel in the gunfight.
A search operation has been intensified in the area.
