Pakistan violates ceasefire in J-K, Army major, BSF jawan injured in Pak shelling


JAMMU-KASHMIR: An Army major and a BSF jawan were injured as Pakistani troops shelled forward posts and civilian areas along the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday.


As per the report from the officials, the Pakistan Army violated ceasefire for a third consecutive day, inviting a strong retaliation from Indian forces. 

The incident happened in forward post of '3 BUMP' at around I pm.

"One Army Major and a constable of BSF were injured as Pakistani troops violated ceasefire in Tarkundi forward area of Balakote sector. Both of them were shifted to 166 Military hospital at Jammu and their condition is stated to be stable," an army officer said.

On Wednesday, Pakistani troops had fired on and shelled the Kalal forward area in Nowshera sector of Rajouri district twice.

Earlier, the Pakistani army fired on forward posts along the LoC Poonch district on Tuesday as well.

“Pakistani troops from across the LoC started unprovoked firing and shelling targeting Indian posts and civilian areas in Gulpur sector around 5 am”, defence sources had said on Tuesday.

2,936 instances of ceasefire violations by Pakistan has been recorded in Jammu and Kashmir in 2018 which is the highest in the last 15 years.

Even before that, Pakistani troops had violated ceasefire in this sector on January 5.

“Pakistan army fired mortar shells at forward posts and civilians areas along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, in violation of the ceasefire for the four consecutive days”, the officials had said on January 5, Saturday.

The Pakistani army had fired mortar bombs at forward posts and civilian areas in Poonch sector on January 4, Friday and the previous three days as well.
