New DELHI:With the counting of votes underway for Lok Sabha elections, trends show a positive signal for the BJP in Uttar Pradesh with the party leading on 54 seats. The BSP and SP, which are in alliance are ahead on 13 and eight seats respectively as per official Election Commission of India trends.

As a major embarrassment to the Congress, party president Rahul Gandhi is trailing in Amethi by around 3000 votes against BJP’s Smrithi Irani. UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi is leading from Rae Bareli against Dinesh Pratap Singh of BJP.

BJP surges ahead with 269 of 495 seats in early trends

The BJP appeared set for a resounding comeback on Thursday with leads in 269 seats while the Congress trailed far behind with 51, according to trends available with the Election Commission for 495 of 542 Lok Sabha seats

As votes for the seven-phase parliamentary polls were counted on Thursday, the DMK was ahead in 20 seats, the Janata Dal-United in 15, the Trinamool Congress in 20 and the Bahujan Samaj Party in 12 and its ally Samajwadi Party in eight seats, according to the poll panel

BJP crosses halfway mark on its own, leads in 24 of 28 seats in Karnataka 

New DELHI: As the counting began in the 542 constituencies deciding the fate of more than 8,000 candidates, BJP is leading in 277 while INC is leading in 52, DMK in 21, AITC in 21, YSRC in 21 and Shivsena in 18.
