Pakistan again violates ceasefire in Poonch district of J-K


POONCH: Pakistan violated ceasefire along the Line of Control ( LOC) in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday.

It is the seventh ceasefire violation in Poonch sector in the last three days.

According to the official sources, Indian troops are retailing strongly to cross bordering firing.

Based on the credible sources, there is no report of any casualty or injury to the Indian side.

Earlier, Pakistani forces had resorted to mortar shelling in this area on Tuesday.

“Pakistani troops from across the LoC started unprovoked firing and shelling targeting Indian posts and civilian areas in Gulpur sector around 5 am”, defence sources had said on Tuesday.

2,936 instances of ceasefire violations by Pakistan has been recorded in Jammu and Kashmir in 2018 which is the highest in the last 15 years.

Even before that, Pakistani troops had violated ceasefire in this sector on January 5.

“Pakistan army fired mortar shells at forward posts and civilians areas along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, in violation of the ceasefire for the four consecutive days”, the officials had said on January 5, Saturday.

The Pakistani army had fired mortar bombs at forward posts and civilian areas in Poonch sector on Friday and the previous three days as well.
