POONCH: In yet another ceasefire violation along the Line of Control (LoC), Pakistani forces resorted to mortar shelling in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday.
According to the report from the defence sources, Pakistani troops from across the LoC started unprovoked firing and shelling targeting Indian posts and civilian areas in Gulpur sector around 5 am today.
Alert Indian troops guarding the borderline retaliated and the intermittent exchange of fire continued when reports last came in.
Based on the credible sources, there is no report of any casualty or injury to the Indian side.
2,936 instances of ceasefire violations by Pakistan has been recorded in Jammu and Kashmir in 2018 which is the highest in the last 15 years.
Pakistani troops had also violated ceasefire in Poonch sector on Saturday.
“Pakistan army fired mortar shells at forward posts and civilians areas along the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, in violation of the ceasefire for the four consecutive days”, the officials had said on January 5, Saturday.
The Pakistani army had fired mortar bombs at forward posts and civilian areas in Poonch sector on Friday and the previous three days as well.
