Rahul Gandhi meets Alwar gang-rape victim, assures justice

JAIPUR: Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Thursday visited a Dalit woman, who was allegedly gang-raped in front of her husband in Rajasthan's Alwar district.

 

As per the report, Rahul was accompanied by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, deputy CM Sachin Pilot and Congress national general secretary Avinash Pandey.

Congress president affirmed that the matter is not a political issue for him and justice will be ensured to the victim.

“This is not a political issue for me. I met the victim’s family and they have sought justice which will be done”, Rahul told media after meeting with the survivor.

“Action will be taken against the culprits”, he added.

On April 26, the women was allegedly gang-raped by six men after attacking her husband.

He was beaten up by the gang in Thanagazi area of Alwar district in Rajasthan.

They took them to an isolated place and allegedly raped her in front of her husband and the accused also circulated a video clip of the crime on social media

The five accused, who allegedly raped the woman, and the one who shot and circulated the video clip, have been arrested and an FIR was lodged against them.

The incident triggered widespread protests in Alwar, Jaipur, Dausa and nearby areas.
