MUMBAI: Several Air India flights from Mumbai’s Chattrapathi Shivaji International Airport were delayed this morning due to strike by contractual workers.
The contractual staff of Air India Air Transport Services Limited (AIATSL) at Mumbai airport are on a strike since last night to protest against the sacking of some workers.
"Due to a sudden industrial situation at Mumbai by AIATSL employees, some flights have got delayed. We are assessing the situation and all efforts are being made to minimise delays or disruption," an Air India spokesperson said.
According to the report at least two international flights were delayed from here. A Bangkok-bound flight was left 8:18 am instead of 1:45 am and another to Newark left at 4:08 am instead of 1:30 am.
However, the Air India authorities said that only early morning flights from Mumbai have been delayed by two hours, and added that they have called additional support staff from home to help passengers to avoid delay in the procedure.
