1,388 police personnel test positive for COVID-19 in Maharashtra; death toll at 12

At least 1,388 personnel from the Maharashtra Police have tested positive for COVID-19 so far, according to the department on Wednesday.

 

According to a release by the Maharashtra Police, as many as 12 policemen have died of coronavirus in the state as of today. 

As per the report, there are 948 active cases and as many as 428 police personnel have been cured.

Meanwhile, India's COVID-19 tally reached 1,06,750 on Wednesday. The number of deaths in the country due to COVID-19 has risen to 3,303.

According to the data provided by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of active cases in the country is 61,149. Meanwhile 42,298 persons have been cured/discharged/migrated.

As India is attempting to flatten the corve of the novel coronavirus, some states are continuing to see a steady rise in cases.

Among the Indian states, Maharashtra remains to be the worst affected with 37,136 positive COVID-19 cases with at least 1,325 fatalities, followed by Tamil Nadu (12,448), Gujarat ( 12,140, and Delhi ( 10,554).
