18 new coronavirus cases in Maharashtra; Count reaches 320, death toll at 12

As India continues to reel under the threat of COVID-19 pandemic, the total number of coronavirus patients in Maharashtra has surged to 320.

 

The state count reached 320 after 18 new cases came up. Of the 18 fresh cases, 16 were reported in Mumbai while remaining two were reported in Pune. Meanwhile A total of 12 people have died due to coronavirus in the state till now. 

According to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare report, the total number of coronavirus cases in India climbed to 1397 on Tuesday.

The death toll due to the COVID-19 rose to 35 while 123 cases were cured or discharged after treatment.

The Central government has taken many stringent measures to prevent the further spread of the disease. 

Starting from Tuesday midnight, India is under 21-day lockdown to curb the spread of novel coronavirus. Only the essential services like grocery shops, medical outlets remain functional during the lockdown.

Coronavirus, which originated in China's Wuhan city in December last year, has so far spread to more than 200 countries. The World Health Organisation (WHO) has declared coronavirus a pandemic. 

The  World Health Organization estimates that 754,948 people worldwide have been infected with the coronavirus, and 36,571 have died from it so far.
