2 soldiers martyred after Pakistan violates ceasefire in J-K’s Baramulla district


Two security personnel, who were critically injured in a ceasefire violation by Pakistan along Line of Control in Rampur sector in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district on Friday, have succumbed to their injuries.


The ceasefire violation took place at around 3:30 pm on Friday. The Indian Army retaliated befittingly. 

According to the India Today report, four soldiers were injured in the shelling and evacuated to the Army's health facility where two of them later succumbed to their injuries. 

They have been identified as Havaldar Gokaran Singh and Naik Shankar SP Coy. Two other injured soldiers have been identified as Havaldar Narayan Singh and Naik Pradeep Bhat. The injured also include four civilians.

Fear has heightened among villagers along the LoC in Rajouri, Poonch and Kupwara since three civilians were killed last month in shelling by Pakistan

There were a total of 646 incidents of ceasefire violation along the International Border (IB) as well as the LoC between January 1 and February 23 this year. Over 3,200 ceasefire violations by Pakistan's troops were recorded in 2019.
