30 new coronavirus cases in Puducherry, tally climbs to 739

Puducherry reported 30 fresh cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, pushing the tally of viral infections in the Union Territory to 739.


With the transfer of five cases to Tamil Nadu account, the cumulative number of cases here stood at 739.

According to the medical bulletin issued by the Department of Health and Family Welfare, the total active cases were 426 spread over all the four regions of Puducherry (391 cases), Karaikal (25), Mahe (8 ) and Yanam (2).

Meanwhile, 301 cases were treated and discharged. The fatalities continued to remain 12 as no deaths were reported during the last 24 hours ending 10 am on Wednesday.

With 18,653 new cases in the last 24 hours, India's COVID-19 tally reached 5,85,493 on Wednesday. Meanwhile, with an increase of 507 deaths in the last 24 hours, the number of deaths in the country due to COVID-19 has risen 17,400.

According to the data provided by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of active cases in the country is 2,20,114. Meanwhile 3,47,979 persons have been cured/discharged/migrated.
