62 fresh COVID-19 cases in Andhra; state tally reaches 955, death toll 29

Maintaining a steep ascent, coronavirus cases touched 955 in Andhra Pradesh with the addition of 62 in the last 24 hours ending 9 am on Friday.


According to the report from the state government, the death toll due to COVID-19 has increased to 29. Till date, 145 patients had been discharged across the state.

According to the bulletin, two patients had died in the last 24 hours, one each in Anantapuramu and Kurnool districts.

Kurnool, Guntur and Krishna districts the major hotbeds in the state continued to register fresh cases while no new case was reported in Chittoor district which witnessed a sudden spurt early this week.

In Kurnool, 27 more cases were reported in the last 24 hours, taking the count to 261.

The cases in Guntur rose to 206 with the addition of 11, while Krishna went past the century mark to 102, adding 14 new cases.

In Anantapuramu district, four patients were discharged from hospital upon recovery from the disease.

According to the data provided by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Friday, the total number of coronavirus patients in the country has surged to 23,077. Meanwhile, the number of deaths in the country due to COVID-19 has risen to 718.

The total number of active cases in the country is 17,610. Meanwhile, 4,749 persons have been cured/discharged/migrated.

Globally, there now are 2,726,752 cases of coronavirus. The number of fatalities across the world stands at 191,061, and there have so far been 730,843 recoveries.

Coronavirus, which originated in China's Wuhan city in December last year, has so far spread to more than 200 countries. The World Health Organisation (WHO) has declared coronavirus a pandemic.
