8 deaths, 1,001 police personnel test positive for COVID-19 in Maharashtra

At least 1,001 personnel from the Maharashtra Police have tested positive for COVID-19 so far, according to the department on Thursday.

 

According to a release by the Maharashtra Police, as many as eight policemen have died of coronavirus in the state as of today.

According to the data provided by the Maharashtra Police, the total number of active cases amongst Maharashtra Police stood at 851 while 142 cops have recovered from the infection.

Maharashtra is the worst-affected state due to COVID-19. According to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), there are 25,922 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state including 5,547 recovered and 975 deaths.

With 3,722 new cases in the last 24 hours, India's COVID-19 tally reached 78,003.

Meanwhile, with an increase of 134 deaths in the last 24 hours, the number of deaths in the country due to COVID-19 has risen to 2,549.

According to the data provided by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of active cases in the country is 49,219. Meanwhile 26,235 persons have been cured/discharged/migrated.
