Andhra Pradesh Energy and Forests Minister Balineni Srinivasa Reddy tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday.

He has been admitted to a private hospital in Hyderabad where doctors treating him said that the minister’s health condition is stable

In a tweet to his followers, Reddy said that his health is stable and will recover soon.

The minister said that he was under home quarantine at his residence in Hyderabad following mild fever for the last five days.

Doctors treating the minister said he was doing fine and there were no complications.

Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy spoke to Srinivasa Reddy and also checked about his condition from doctors attending to him, reported Deccan Chronicle.

Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh inching closer to 2 lakh-mark COVID-19 cases as the state on Thursday reported 10,328 positive cases adding over 10,000 cases for the second straight day.

About 82,000 patients are undergoing treatment in various hospitals of the state, the health department said.

The infection positivity rate rose further to 8.56 percent after a total of 22.99 lakh samples were tested till date.

The state registered an increase in recovery rate at 57.36 percent while the mortality rate slid marginally by 0.01 percent to 0.89 percent.
