Andhra Pradesh reports 128 new cases and one more death

Andhra Pradesh reported 128 Covid-19 cases on Thursday (May 28), which is second highest in a single day in the state since the outbreak. The Covid-19 also claimed one more life in the past 24 hours.

The positive tally has gone up to 3245 and the death toll rose to 59. The new case of death was reported in Kurnool district which has highest number of cases and deaths. With this the death tally in the district has gone up to 22.

Kurnool is followed by Krishna district with 17 deaths and Guntur district with 8 deaths. Nellore and Anantapur districts have reported four Covid-19 deaths each while East Godavari district reported two deaths. Visakhapatnam and Chittoor districts reported one death each.

Of the 128 fresh cases, 54 are of locals and 74 are of migrant returnees. During the past day, 68 persons have recovered and so far 2125 patients were discharged after full recovery, said a report in the Hindu.

Currently there are 1061 active cases in the State. The number of active cases rose in the recent past due to the increasing number of cases of inter-state and foreign migrant returnees.

A total of 9,858 samples were tested in the past 24 hours in Andhra Pradesh. With this the total number of tests in the state has gone up to 3.42 lakh (with inputs from agencies).
