Andhra Pradesh reported 130 new Covid-19 positive cases and two deaths in the last 24 hours on Sunday, taking the state’s coronavirus tally to 3,718.

According to the state health department's update, 29 people were discharged, taking the state's discharged patients tally to 2,353. The number of active cases in the state currently is stand at 1290. With the two deaths in the last 24 hours, the death toll in the state has climbed to 75.

A total of 17,695 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, and out of that 130 tested positive for the virus infection. The cumulative positive coronavirus cases from foreign returnees stood at 131, while the cumulative positive cases from other states stood at 810.

A day earlier, as many as 161 people had tested positive for Covid-19 in the state, taking the tally to 3,588.

Indian Express reported that the positive cases included six employees in the state secretariat. Earlier four positive cases were reported from the secretariat. Until Saturday, tests have been conducted on the employees in Block 1, 2 and 4 of the Secretariat and the AP Legislature.

In the COVID tests conducted on as many as 710 employees of the AP Secretariat and Legislature for the last three days, five more employees, including, three in second block and two in first block, tested positive, taking the total to 10.

Out of the six persons who tested positive on Saturday, one of them is said to be the driver of an official in the Chief Minister’s Office, according to the IE report.
