Andhra records 765 new Covid-19 cases, 12 deaths in the last 24 hours

Andhra Pradesh recorded 765 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, taking the state's tally to 17,699, on Saturday.


Out of which 9,473 cases are active and 8,008 have recovered.

Meanwhile, Andhra Pradesh recorded 12 new Covid-19 deaths  in the past 24 hours, taking the state's toll to 218.

Three patients from Kurnool, three from Srikakulam, two from Visakhapatnam, two from Chittoor, one each from Kadapa and Vizianagaram died due to COVID-19.

According to the state's health bulletin on Saturday morning, a total of 24,962 samples were tested in the last 24 hours till 9 am. As per the report, a total of 9,96,573 samples have been tested so far in the state.

As per the COVID-19 status update provided by the Andhra Pradesh Health Department, 727 of the new cases have been reported from Andhra Pradesh while the remaining 38 cases have been reported among those who returned from other states (32) and foreign countries (6).

Of the 32 patients who arrived in Andhra Pradesh from other states, 23 are from Telangana, 3 from Delhi, 2 from West Bengal, and one each from Maharashtra, Odisha, Rajasthan, and Karnataka.

The highest cases were reported from Anantapur district with 127 cases in the last 24 hours, followed by Kurnool (118) and East Godavari (102).

Meanwhile, India’s COVID-19 tally went up to 6,48,315 on Saturday as the country reported 22,771 new cases. This is the highest single-day rise in fresh infections in the country so far.

The toll rose to 18,655 with 442 new fatalities. As many as 3,94,226 people have recovered so far.
