Bengaluru police make second arrest in drug-related case registered at Cottonpet police station

In connection with the case related to drugs at Cottonpet police station, one more person arrested in Bengaluru.

 

Police arrested one more person, in connection with the case related to drugs at Cottonpet police station, the Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime), Bengaluru Sandeep Patil said on Saturday

The accused has been identified as Vaibhav Jain.

"Vaibhav Jain, an accused in the case registered in Cottonpet police station has been arrested," Sandeep Patil said on Saturday.

On Friday, Pratik Shetty, an alleged drug peddler was arrested by police. 

Earlier, Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa had said that the police department has been given a free hand to conduct their probe in the matter.

On September 8, Kannada film actor Sanjana Galrani and her mother were detained by the Central Crime Branch (CCB), Bengaluru for their alleged involvement in a drug case.

The Central Crime Branch probing the drug abuse in the Kannada film industry, conducted a search at actor Sanjana Galrani's house in Bengaluru for her alleged involvement in the case.

Sources said that Sanjana's house was raided following information revealed by other accused already in the case.

Earlier, her friend Rahul was booked in the drug case. SInce then Galrani was under the scanner of CCB The development comes in the wake of city police arresting actress Ragini Dwivedi .

Ragini was arrested on last Friday. The CCB alleged that the actor attended high-end parties and allegedly consumed drugs in those parties

On Monday, the CCB also arrested a man named Niyaz, for allegedly supplying drugs to these parties. Niyaz, who is originally from Kerala, had settled in Bengaluru five years ago

Kannada filmmaker Indrajit Lankesh, a couple of weeks back, had appeared before the CCB and revealed information about the use of drugs in the Kannada film industry. 

The Sandalwood drug racket was busted in Karnataka on August 21 and many drug peddlers were arrested. 

A diary was also obtained in which the names of at least 15 film celebrities were mentioned. This led to the arrest of Ravi, Ragini’s friend, after which the CCB found out the actor’s connection in the drug case.
