COVID-19: Bigg Boss Malayalam 2 contestants leave the house


KOCHI: The ten contestants, who were inside the Bigg Boss Malayalam 2 house, have been asked to leave, due to the COVID-19 pandemic scare.


It was speculated that the contestants might leave the house during the weekend episode when host Mohanlal joins them.

However, according to pictures that have been released in Facebook and Whatsapp groups, confirmed that the makers of the show have called off the programme.  

Recently, the producer of the show, Endemol Shine India had released a statement announcing the suspension of all the administrative and production departments until further notice in the wake of Coronavirus outbreak.

Confirming the news, Asianet, which airs the show, said that the decision comes as the team has to ensure health and safety of the contestants and the large production crew involved in the show.

Earlier, the recent weekend episode of Bigg Boss Malayalam season 2 was shot in an empty studio with host Mohanlal and limited crew presence.

The Bigg Boss Malayalam 2 was going through its 74th day. The show was just 4 weeks away from the finale.

The house, located at EVP Film City in Chennai, had 17 contestants on Day one.  Later, six joined as wildcard entries.

The remaining contestant in the show are Arya, Pashanam Shaji, Alasandra, Sujo Mathew, Amrutha Suresh, Abhirami Suresh, Fukru, Daya Ashwathy, RJ Raghu and Alina. 

Meanwhile, most of the viewers said that the production company might cancel the second season of the Bigg Boss due to the ongoing situation. The comments on the post revealed that the telecasting channel has received severe backlash from the netizens. 

In the latest weekend episode of Bigg Boss Malayalam 2, one of the popular contestants Dr Rajith Kumar was evicted due to his misconduct. During a task, Rajith Kumar had applied chillies on fellow contestant Reshma Ranjan's eyes. It was reprimanded by Bigg Boss with a temporary eviction.

Meanwhile, Reshma was given the authority to decide the fate of Rajith Kumar. However, Reshma decided that she cannot stay in the house with Rajith Kumar. This infuriated the fans of the show.

Most of the comments have called the channel biased for being unfair with Rajith Kumar and the eviction has stirred a storm on the internet. 

Mohanlal, who is hosting the show, also receives several backlash after the eviction. Fans are slamming Mohanlal and the makers of the show for being 'biased'.

Bigg Boss Malayalam season 2  show was in the news over the past few days after a case being registered against ousted contestant Rajith Kumar and 78 others who gathered at the Kochi airport on Sunday night.

Hundreds of people thronged to the Kochi International Airport  to welcoming the ousted contestant. The mass gathering took place while the coronavirus restrictions are in place in the state.  

A case against ex-contestant Rajith Kumar was registered in Nedumbassery Police Station. Later, he was taken into custody from his home in Attingal in Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday.

Reports reveal that the case has been registered under several sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC)143 (Unlawful Assembly), 147 (rioting), 149 (every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offence commit-ted in the prosecution of common object), 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) and 283 (danger or obstruction in public way or line of navigation) of the Indian Penal Code.
