COVID-19: TRS Local Bodies Public representatives to donate one-month salary to CM Relief Fund

HYDERABAD: Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Local Bodies Public representatives have decided to donate their one month's salary to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund.

 

As per the report, CM K Chandrashekhar Rao has appreciated the decision taken by the local body representatives.

"TRS Local Bodies Public representatives have decided to donate their one-month's salary of Rs 9,51,17,500 to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund”, Chief Minister camp office said.

“To this effect, TRS Municipal Corporation Mayors, Corporators, Municipal Chairperson, Counsellors, ZP Chairpersons, ZPTCs, MPTCs and Sarpanches have given their consent to the Chief Minister. They urged the government to utilise their contributions to the measures taken to prevent the spread of Coronavirus in the State," it added.

The representatives said that they are inspired by the initiatives taken by the CM K Chandrashekhar Rao to combat COVID-19.

TRS MPs, MLAs, MLCs have already announced to give their one month's salary to the CMRF.

The country is now in its third day of a 21-day lockdown.

In a televised address to the nation on Tuesday, Prime Minister Modi said that it is vital to break the chain of the disease and experts have said that at least 21 days are needed for it. Social distancing is the only option to deal with the disease.

The Prime Minister said the lockdown has drawn a "Lakshman Rekha" in every home and people should stay indoors for their own protection and for that of their families.

Coronavirus, which originated in China's Wuhan city in December last year, has so far spread to more than 130 countries. The World Health Organisation (WHO) has declared coronavirus a pandemic.
