COVID-19 cases cross 6-lakh mark in Tamil Nadu; Death toll at 9,586

For eight consecutive days, the number of new Covid-19 cases has marginally outpaced recoveries in the state.

 

The total number of Covid-19 infections in Tamil Nadu crossed six lakh mark on Thursday.

With 5,688 fresh cases, the Covid-19 count in Tamil reached to 6,03,290. 

The State also reported 66 deaths on the day, taking the toll to 9,586. With another 5,516 people being discharged after treatment, the number of people discharged since March now stands at 5,47,335.

For eight consecutive days, the number of new Covid-19 cases has marginally outpaced recoveries in the state. On Thursday, the number of those discharged stood at 5,516. As per the report, the state now has 46,369 active cases

Chennai continued to report the maximum number of cases ((1,289) and deaths (18). Its neighbouring districts of Chengalpattu, Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur reported 356, 148 and 260 cases respectively.
