COVID-19 outbreak: Complete lockdown in Telangana from today

HYDERABAD: The Telangana Government has announced a complete lockdown in the state till March 31 in view of the coronavirus pandemic.

 

Describing the lockdown as in “Sarvajana hitam”, Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has announced total lockdown in the state till March 31, with the exception of essential services and commodities. 

Some of the rules that would be applicable during this week to be notified by the government are - All public transport, private vehicles are banned on roads and all interstate borders are closed. During the peried, all the public transport services including TSRTC buses, SETWIN, Hyderabad Metro, Taxis, auto-rickshaws will not be permitted

All government employees need not attend office with work managed on 20 per cent rotation. 

To buy essential commodities, one person per family is allowed outside. Not more than five people should assemble anywhere.

Addressing a press conference, KCR said that white ration holders will get 12 kilograms of rice and along with other essential commodities will receive all of it in the coming few days. 

They will also be provided Rs1,500 per card for which Rs 2,417 crore have been released and will be disbursed in the shortest time possible.

Chief minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) said that the steps were being taken to ensure that the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) doesn't spread and appealed for people to stay indoors.

On Sunday, five more people were found to be infected with the virus, taking the state's tally to 26.
