Delhi govt advises employers to ensure Aarogya Setu app installation by their employees


Amid the fourth phase of COVID-19 lockdown in the country, Delhi government on Tuesday advised all employers to ensure that Aarogya Setu app is installed by their employees on their mobile phones.


"With a view to ensuring safety in offices and workplaces, employers on best efforts basis should ensure that Aarogya Setu app is installed by all employees having compatible mobile phones," the government said.

Earlier on Monday, Delhi government announced a detailed set of restrictions and relaxations for the latest phase of lockdown.

The Aarogya Setu app, launched by the Centre last month to create awareness on the coronavirus pandemic. The app tries to determine the risk if one has been near a Covid-19 infected person (within six feet of distance) by scanning through a database of positive cases reported from various places across India.

The Aarogya Setu app has crossed five million downloads within the three days of its launch, making it one of the most popular government apps in India.

As per the health ministry’s data, as many as 10054 people have tested positive for coronavirus in the national capital, 160 people have died from the infection while 4485 have made a recovery.

With 4,970 new cases in the last 24 hours, India's COVID-19 tally reached 1,01,139 on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, with an increase of 134 deaths in the last 24 hours, the number of deaths in the country due to COVID-19 has risen to 3,163.

According to the data provided by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of active cases in the country is  58,802 . Meanwhile 39,173 persons have been cured/discharged/migrated.

Among the Indian states, Maharashtra remains to be the worst affected with 35,058 positive COVID-19 cases, including 1,249 deaths. It is followed by Tamil Nadu (11,760) and Gujarat (11,745).
