India reports 15,968 new COVID-19 cases, 17,817 recoveries in last 24 hours

At present, there are 64,759 active coronavirus cases in Kerala, the highest in the country, followed by Maharashtra with 53,067 active infections.

 

With 15,968 new COVID-19 infections reported in the last 24 hours, COVID-19 case tally reached   1,04,95,147,, said the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Wednesday.

Meanwhile,202 patients succumbed to the deadly contagious disease, taking the fatalities count to 1,51,529.

According to the data provided by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of active cases in the country  2,14,507. Meanwhile 1,01,29,111have been cured/discharged/migrated.

Kerala continued to be the worst affected state with  64,516 active cases, followed by Maharashtra with 54,129.

According to the India Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a total of 18,34,89,114 samples were tested for COVID-19 till January 12, of which 8,36,227 samples were tested yesterday.
