India reports 20,346 new COVID-19 cases, 19,587 recoveries in last 24 hours

While 1,00,16,859 people have recovered from the novel coronavirus so far, 1,50,336 persons have succumbed to the deadly virus in the country.

 

With 20,346 new COVID-19 infections reported in the last 24 hours, COVID-19 case tally reached 1,03,95,278, said the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Thursday.

Meanwhile, 222 patients succumbed to the deadly contagious disease, taking the fatalities count to  1,50,336.

According to the data provided by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of active cases in the country 2,28,083. Meanwhile 1,00,16,859.have been cured/discharged/migrated.

Kerala continued to be the worst affected state in the country, followed by Maharashtra. Kerala has reported 65,252 active COVID-19 cases while Maharashtra has reported 51,969.

As many as 17,84,00,995 samples have been tested for Covid-19 up to January 6 including 9,37,590 samples tested on Wednesday, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) informed.
