India reports 2301 covid-19 cases, death toll 56

As India continues to reel under the threat of COVID-19 pandemic, the total number of coronavirus patients in the country has surged to 2301.

 

Meanwhile, the number of deaths in the country due to COVID-19 has risen to 56.

According to the data provided by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of active cases in the country is 2088. 

Meanwhile, 156 persons have been cured and discharged from the hospitals. 

The highest number of COVID-19 cases was reported from Maharashtra (335 and 16 deaths), followed by Tamil Nadu (309 and 6 deaths), and Kerala ( 286 and 2 deaths)

The Central government has taken many stringent measures to prevent the further spread of the disease. 

Starting from March 24 midnight, India is under 21-day lockdown to curb the spread of novel coronavirus. Only the essential services like grocery shops, medical outlets remain functional during the lockdown.

Coronavirus, which originated in China's Wuhan city in December last year, has so far spread to more than 200 countries. The World Health Organisation (WHO) has declared coronavirus a pandemic.
