India reports 3374 covid-19 cases, death toll 77

The total number of coronavirus patients in the country has surged to 3374 , showing a spike of 302 cases since the health ministry updated the figures on Saturday night. 

 

Meanwhile, the number of deaths in the country due to COVID-19 has risen to 77.

According to the data provided by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of active cases in the country is 3030. Meanwhile, 267 persons have been cured and discharged from the hospitals, and one is migrated.

The highest number of COVID-19 cases was reported from Maharashtra (490), followed by Tamil Nadu (485), Delhi (445) and Kerala (306).

According to the Ministry, 211 districts are now reporting COVID-19 cases, posing a high risk of further spread of the deadly virus unless it is contained.

The Central government has taken many stringent measures to prevent the further spread of the disease. 

Starting from March 24 midnight, India is under 21-day lockdown to curb the spread of novel coronavirus. Only the essential services like grocery shops, medical outlets remain functional during the lockdown.

Coronavirus, which originated in China's Wuhan city in December last year, has so far spread to more than 200 countries. The World Health Organisation (WHO) has declared coronavirus a pandemic.
