India's coronavirus tally crosses 75-lakh mark; Death toll at 1,14,610

With an increase of 55,722 COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, the coronavirus count in India has crossed 75 lakhs mark.


In the past 24 hours, India has 55,722 coronavirus cases, taking its total count 75,50,273.

Meanwhile, 579 patients succumbed to the deadly contagious disease, taking the fatalities count to 1,14,610. 

According to the data provided by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of active cases in the country is  7,72,055 . Meanwhile 66,63,608 persons have been cured/discharged/migrated.

With 1,83,456 total active cases, Maharashtra continues to be the worst affected state by COVID-19 in the country. While 13,69,810 patients have recovered from the disease in the state, 42,115 have died so far.

Among other severely affected states, Karnataka has 1,09,283 active cases, while 6,45,825 people have recovered, 10,478 have succumbed to the coronavirus.

Coronavirus, which originated in China's Wuhan city in December last year, has so far spread to more than 200 countries. The World Health Organisation (WHO) has declared coronavirus a pandemic.

India became the second worst-affected country by the coronavirus pandemic in the world. The United States is the worst-affected country across the globe.
