India's COVID-19 tally crosses 50-lakh mark; Death toll at 82,066


With an increase of  90,123 COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, the coronavirus count in India has crossed 50 lakhs mark.


In the past 24 hours, India has recorded  90,123 coronavirus cases, taking its total count to 50,20,360.

Meanwhile, 1,290 patients succumbed to the deadly contagious disease, taking the fatalities count to 82,066.

According to the data provided by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of active cases in the country is 9,95,933. Meanwhile 39,42,360 persons have been cured/discharged/migrated.

As per the data from the Health Ministry, Maharashtra which is the most affected by the pandemic has 2,92,174 active cases of COVID-19. Karnataka has 98,555 active cases, Andhra Pradesh (92,353), Uttar Pradesh (67,335), and Delhi (29,787).

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 5,94,29,115 samples have been tested up to September 15 for COVID-19. Of these, 11,16,842 samples tested yesterday.

Coronavirus, which originated in China's Wuhan city in December last year, has so far spread to more than 200 countries. The World Health Organisation (WHO) has declared coronavirus a pandemic.

India has overtaken Brazil to become the second worst-affected country by the coronavirus pandemic in the world.

The United States is the worst-affected country across the globe.
