India's COVID-19 tally crosses 57-lakh mark; Death toll at 91,149

With an increase of 86,508 COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, the coronavirus count in India has crossed 57- lakhs mark.

 

In the past 24 hours, India has recorded 86,508 coronavirus cases, taking its total count to 57,32,519 .

Meanwhile 1,129 patients succumbed to the deadly contagious disease, taking the fatalities count 91,149.

According to the data provided by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of active cases in the country is 9,66,382. Meanwhile 46,74,988 persons have been cured/discharged/migrated.

Maharashtra continues to be the worst-affected State in the country with 2,73,883 active cases and 9,56,030 cured and discharged patients. The toll due to the disease stands at 33,886.

Karnataka is the second-most affected by the disease currently with 94,671 active cases in the State. The number of cured and discharged patients stands at 4,37,910. The death toll due to COVID-19 stands at 8,266.

Andhra Pradesh with 70,357 active and 5,70,667 cured patients is also severely affected. 5,506 people have lost their lives due to the disease so far in the State.

Coronavirus, which originated in China's Wuhan city in December last year, has so far spread to more than 200 countries. The World Health Organisation (WHO) has declared coronavirus a pandemic.

India has overtaken Brazil and became the second worst-affected country by the coronavirus pandemic in the world. The United States is the worst-affected country across the globe.
