India's COVID-19 tally crosses 71-lakh mark; Death toll at 1,09,150

With an increase of 66,732 COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, the coronavirus count in India has crossed 71- lakhs mark.

 

In the past 24 hours, India has 66,732 coronavirus cases, taking its total count to  71,20,539.

Meanwhile,  816 patients succumbed to the deadly contagious disease, taking the fatalities count to 1,09,150.

According to the data provided by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of active cases in the country is  8,61,853. Meanwhile 61,49,536 persons have been cured/discharged/migrated.

With 2,21,637 active cases, Maharashtra continues to be the worst affected state by COVID-19 in the country. While 12,66,240 patients have recovered from the disease in the state, 40,349 died so far.

Coronavirus, which originated in China's Wuhan city in December last year, has so far spread to more than 200 countries. The World Health Organisation (WHO) has declared coronavirus a pandemic.

India has overtaken Brazil and became the second worst-affected country by the coronavirus pandemic in the world. The United States is the worst-affected country across the globe.
