India's COVID-19 tally reaches 89-lakh mark; Death toll at 1,30,993

This is the eleventh consecutive day when India reported less than 50,000 cases in a day. The last time daily new cases crossed the 50,000-threshold was on November 7.

 

With 38,617new COVID-19 infections reported in the last 24 hours, India's total coronavirus cases surged to 89- lakh mark.

The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) on Wednesday said that India's total coronavirus cases surged to 89,12,908.

Meanwhile, 474 patients succumbed to the deadly contagious disease, taking the fatalities count to 1,30,993. 

According to the data provided by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the total number of active cases in the country is 4,46,805. Meanwhile at 83,35,109 persons have been cured/discharged/migrated.

Maharashtra continuedto be the worst affected state with 82,904 active coronavirus cases, followed by Kerala with 70,191 and Delhi with 42,004.

Coronavirus, which originated in China's Wuhan city in December last year, has so far spread to more than 200 countries. The World Health Organisation (WHO) has declared coronavirus a pandemic.
