Karnataka's Forest and Environment Minister Anand Singh tested positive for COVID-19 and is in home quarantine in Hospet town of Ballari district, said news reports.

The minister had on Friday undergone the COVID-19 test voluntarily though there were no pandemic symptoms and result came out positive on Saturday, said a report in the Deccan Chronicle quoting his family members.

Anand Singh’s driver also tested positive for coronavirus.

The source of the forest minister’s infection is yet to be known and it is suspected that he might have contracted the disease during his visit to a hospital wards where COVID-19 patients are undergoing treatment.

Anand Singh is the legislator from Hospet Assembly constituency in the state. Though the Ballari district administration is yet to disclose the news officially,

Family members of Anand Singh in Ballari said that he was in good health but the district authorities are yet to confirm this officially, the report said.  

State Tourism Minister CT Ravi, who tested positive for COVID-19 around two weeks ago, has recovered now.

Karnataka has over 90,000 coronavirus cases and as many as 1,804 people have succumbed to the pandemic so far.
