Ravi, who was appointed to the party position on September 26, will to fly to Delhi on Monday to meet the BJP central leaders.

After being appointed as national general secretary of Bharatiya Janata Party, Karnataka Minister for Kannada, Culture and Tourism CT Ravi has tendered his resignation.

According to media reports on Sunday, October 4, Ravi, a four-time MLA from Chikkamagaluru, submitted his resignation on Saturday to Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa. The chief minister is yet to accept his resignation.

The reports said that CT Ravi, who was appointed to the party position on September 26, will to fly to Delhi on Monday to meet the BJP central leaders.

Though his resignation was expected, the move has sparked speculations about the expansion of the Yediyurappa ministry, in which 6 positions are lying vacant. The chief minister had earlier claimed that he had received no for the exercise from the party high command and he would be able to induct new ministers before the commencement of the assembly session.

The exercise is not easy as there are many ministerial aspirants, including those who had switched over to the ruling BJP from the Congress and the JD(S). It is difficult for Yediyurappa to accommodate all of them without disturbing the caste, political and regional equations.

There are also rumours regarding a leadership change in the state. However, Yediyurappa has vehemently refuted them (With inputs from PTI)
