Kerala’s Ernakulam, Wayand districts enter Green Zone

Ernakulam and Wayanad districts in Kerala have been elevated to green zone with both the districts reporting no new fresh cases for the last 28 days.

Neither the central government nor the state government has announced the relaxation in lockdown restrictions in the district with only two days left for the end of the second phase of the lockdown.

Ernakulam became totally Covid-19-free on Friday with the lone patient discharged from the hospital on Friday. Ernakulam guardian minister V S Sunil Kumar said that there is only one hot spot in the district –Kathrikkadav ward 65.

He said that the administration had started screening all truck drivers, who are coming to the district. “We will be screening 75 to 100 truck drivers every day. We are also considering the possibility of screening of passengers arriving at seaport,” he added.

No new coronavirus cases was reported in the state on Friday, according to a statement issued by the chief minister’s office. Nine patients left the hospital fully recovered. The total number of patients undergoing treatment in the state now is 102.
