Kerala reports record 195 new coronavirus cases

Kerala on Saturday (June 27) inched close to 200 new coronavirus cases. The state reported as many 195 cases in the last 24 hours, according to Facebook post of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

This is the eighth consecutive day that the state is reporting over 100 cases. With the latest addition, the total number of infections in the state rose to 3921.

The chief minister said that out of 195 new positive cases, 118 came from abroad and 62 from states in the country while 15 people contracted the disease though contacts.

Malappuram district reported the highest number of47 cases on Saturday. Palakkad followed with 25 cases. The number in Thriissur is 25, Kottayam 15, Ernakulam 14, Alappuzha 13, Kollam 12, Kannur and Kasargod 11 each, Kozhikode 8, Pathanamthitta 6, Wayanad 5, Thiruvananthapuram 4 and Idukki 2.

A total of 1,67,978 people  are currently under surveillance in various districts of the state. Of these, 1,65,515 are under observation at their homes or institutional quarantine centres and 2,463 are isolated at hospitals. 281 persons were hospitalised today.

 In the last 24 hours, 6,616 samples were tested. A total of 2,15,243 samples have been sent for testing and out of these, the results of 4,032 samples are expected.
