Man hacked to death by 3-member gang in Kerala, CCTV visuals out

KOCHI: A 34-year old man was hacked to death allegedly by a three-member gang in Athani near Nedumbassery, in Kerala's Ernakulam district on Sunday night.

The deceased has been identified as Binoy, a native of Thuruthissery near Nedumbassery airport.
According to the police report, he is accused in many criminal cases and has been booked even under the Kerala Anti-Social Activities (Prevention)Act (KAAPA).
The incident happened around 8 pm on Sunday in front of a Bevco liquor outlet at the Athani Junction. A CCTV visual collected from a nearby building has captured the incident.
The visuals aired by local television channels showed Binoy being attacked using deadly sharp-edged weapons in front of people by the gang, meanwhile, the local people remained mute spectators.
According to the police report, the gang came in a car, hacked Binoy multiple times and mutilated his face with the weapon. Gang rivalry is said to be the reason for the murder.
Chemanganad police reached the spot on hearing about the incident and shifted the body to Kalamassery Medical College hospital, and a post-mortem will be held today.
As per the police report, a hunt has been launched to nab the accused, who went underground after the incident.
