A medical staff was killed and two patients sustained at a COVID-19 hospital in Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh after the sunshade of a window came crashing down on them late on Sunday night.

The diseased has been identified as Radhika, who is reportedly a class IV employee at Padmavati COVID Hospital attached to Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS) in Tirupati.

The incident occurred at around 10 pm when Radhika was accompanying patients to the hospital. Though she was rushed to the emergency department of the hospital, the employee could not be saved.

Following the mishap, Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Alla Nani, who is also the health minister, ordered an enquiry and assured help to the family of the victim, reported The New Indian Express.

The hospital authorities also ordered an enquiry into the incident.

Inquiries into the accident are going on and it would be premature to comment on what led to the sunshade collapse, reported The News Minute quoting the superintendent of SVIMS.
