New gen films corner glory in Kerala state film awards 2020

A total of 119 films had vied for honours in the state awards for 2020. The jury was headed by renowned cinematographer Madhu Ambattu.

Off-beat films cornered glory in the Kerala state film awards 2020. While Suraj Venjaramoodu won the best actor award, the best actress award has gone to Kani Kusruti.

Venjaramood bagged the award for his outstanding performances in the films Android Kunjappan Version 5.25 and Vikruthi. Kani Kusruti got the distinction for her role in the film Biriyani, written and directed by Sajin Babu.

The 50th Kerala State Film Awards, which was delayed due to Covid-19 pandemic, was announced on Tuesday, October 13 by Kerala's Culture Minister AK Balan.

The Best Film award went to Vasanthi, directed by the Rahman brothers. The Best Director award was bagged by Lijo Jose Pellissery for Jallikattu. Fahadh Faasil and Swasika Vijay won the awards in the Best Supporting Actors category.

The second best film award went to Kenjira. Ratheesh Balakrishnan Poduval has won the best debut director award for Android Kunjappan Version 5.25. The jury of Kerala Film Awards was headed by renowned cinematographer Madhu Ambattu. A total of 119 films had vied for honours this year.
