The Railway Ministry said on Wednesday announced to gradually commence 78 special trains across the country to enhance ease of movement as the festive season draws close.

The railway will also run ten daily special trains in Maharashtra from October 9 to meet the festival rush of passengers.

The number of special trains will be increased to meet the demand, said Railway Minister Piyush Goyal.

“Railways to gradually start additional 39 pairs of trains across the country to enhance ease of movement as the festive season draws close,” said Goyal in a tweet.

The minister, however, did not mention the date of the commencement of the special trains.

The newly announced special trains belong to the AC Express, Duronto, Rajdhani and Shatabdi categories.

Last week railway board chairman Vinod Kumar Yadav had said that Indian Railways had plans to run more than 200 trains during the festive season between October 15 and November 30.

The Indian Railways will run five pairs of daily special trains in Maharashtra from October 9 to enhance ease of movement in the state, the minister said.

The five trains are Mumbai-Nagpur, Mumbai-Pune (2), Mumbai-Gondia and Mumbai-Solapur.

Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited (IRCTC) on Wednesday announced to resume the services of Tejas Express trains soon.
