Considering the huge demand for trains on specific routes, the railway ministry will run 20 pairs of clone special trains from September 21.

These clone trains will run on notified timings and will be fully reserved trains, said the Ministry of Railways.

Clone trains are full-fledged ones that will run behind the fully booked original express trains to meet the high demand from passengers and to reduce the inconvenience caused to the passengers on the waiting list.

These clone trains will run on notified timings and will be fully reserved trains. The stoppages shall be limited to operational halts.

Of the 20 pairs of the clone trains, 19 of them will run using Humsafar rakes. One pair of clone train will run as Jan Shatabdi Express on the Lucknow-Delhi route.

Fare of the Humsafar rake will be charged as Humsafar trains and for the Jan Shadabdi Express, fare will be as per its ticket rates.

The advanced reservation period will be 10 days.

The ministry said that the clone special trains will be in addition to the special trains which are already operational in the country.

Early this month, Railway Board chairman and first CEO VK Yadav announced that special clone trains would be operated on specific routes where there was heavy traffic and long waitlists.
