South Korean tech major Samsung launched its third generation foldable smartphone Galaxy Z Fold2 and the company is reportedly planning to manufacture up to 8 lakh smartphones this year.

Galaxy Z Fold2 features a 6.2-inch cover screen and 7.6-inch main screen with Infinity-O Displays besides a thinner form factor which makes it more comfortable to grip, according to Samsung.

Galaxy Z Fold2 is third foldable smartphone from Samsung stable after Galaxy Fold and Galaxy Z Flip.

Apart from South Korea, Samsung will produce the Galaxy Z Fold2 foldable smartphone in Vietnam and Brazil as well, said a report in Zee News.

Samsung ultra-thin glass is now on the main screen, providing a more premium and refined feel for the display, the company says.

The foldable handset will be available in India this month and the price component is expected to be announced later, reported The Economic Times.

Galaxy Z Fold2 is available in two memory variants -- 12GB RAM with 512GB and 12GB RAM with 256GB internal storage, the company said.

The device in Mystic Black and Mystic Bronze colours will be available in 40 markets, including the US and South Korea, on September 18 while pre-orders will begin from September 1 starting with select market, the company said.

The foldable smartphone features a 10MP selfie camera and the rear camera system has three sensors -- a 12MP Ultra Wide camera, a 12MP Wide-Angle camera and a 12MP Telephoto Camera along with up to 10X zoom.

Galaxy Z Fold2 runs Android 10 and 4,500 mAh battery along with fast-charging technology. It has one eSIM and one nano-SIM slot.
