South India COVID-19 updates: Andhra Pradesh reports 60 fresh cases

Andhra Pradesh reported 60 new COVID-19 positive cases on Wednesday morning, May 6. They were among 7,782 samples tested by the government in the last 24 hours, according to the state’s medical department bulletin.

The total number of coronavirus positive cases in the case is 1,777. The number of deaths stood at 36. Until now, 729 people have completely recovered and were discharged from hospitals.

Currently, there are 1,012 active COVID-19 patients who are undergoing treatment in designated hospitals. Out of the 60 newly reported cases, Kurnool continues to maintain a worrisome trend with the highest number of cases at 17.

The number of fresh cases reported from Karnataka on Wednesday is 19. With this the total number of Covid-19 cases in the state has gone up to 692, according to the state health department said.

Among the news cases, Badami reported the highest number at 13, followed by Dakshina Kannada at 3. While Khalburagi reported 1 case and Bangalore Urban reported two cases. The total number of positive cases in the state includes 345 discharged cases and 29 deaths.

Kerala has heaved a sigh of relief with no fresh cases being reported on Wednesday. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan told reporters that none of the 1154 people tested in the last 24 hours had turned positive.

He said there were only 30 people under treatment in various hospitals in the state. The state has so far tested 34,591 samples. A total of 14670 people are under observation in the state. Eight of the 14 districts are covid-free now. They include Ernakulam, Thrissur, Kottayam, Pathanamthitta and Alappuzha.

The total number of cases in Tamil Nadu stood at 4058. A total of 508 cases were reported till 8.00 AM on May 6. Among the total people infected as on date, 1,485 have recovered and 33 have passed away (with inputs from agencies).
