Tamil Nadu Health Minister C Vijayabaskar visited the hospital on Saturday evening to enquire about the health of the singer

The health condition of renowned singer SP Balasubrahmanyam reportedly improved slightly on Saturday and he continues to remain on life support, said a news report.

A health bulletin from MGM Healthcare in Chennai, where SPB is undergoing treatment, stated that though he is still on life support in ICU, his health is stable.

His family members said that though the singer was critical on Friday, his condition improved by evening, reported Deccan Chronicle.

After his condition turned worse, he was put on life support in the ICU.

The 74-year-old singer got himself admitted to the hospital after his tests turned out to be positive on August 5.

Tamil Nadu Health Minister C Vijayabaskar visited the hospital on Saturday evening to enquire about the health of the singer.

Vijaybaskar in a tweet said that he met the family of Balasubrahmanyam and the MD of MGM Hospital. The minister said that he assured all the support from the state government for his treatment.

In an emotional video message on Friday, legendary music composer and his friend Ilaiyaraaja wished him a speedy recovery, reported The Times of India.

In his message to SPB, Ilaiyaraaja said, "Balu, wake up and come soon. I am waiting for you. Our life is not something that ends with cinema nor did it start with cinema. The music which united us on some stage somewhere long ago has not only become our life, but also the proof of our lives. The friendship and music that started on the stage events between us has been like the music and rhythm. Our friendship has stood the test of times and we both know our friendship even when we have fought. I believe you will come back healthy soon and I pray to god for the same."

Meanwhile, unconfirmed reports said that Balasubramaniam’s wife has also been admitted to hospital after she tested positive for coronavirus.
