Veteran actor-singer SP Balasubrahmanyam tested negative for COVID-19 after undergoing treatment for over a month and is actively cooperating for physiotherapy sessions, his son and film producer SP Charan said.

In a video message on Instagram, Charan said that the good news was that Balasubrahmanyam tested negative but is still on life support.

“We were hoping for very good news over the weekend, in terms of improvement in dad's lung function to remove the ventilator. But unfortunately, we are still not at that point where we could actually rid him of the ventilator. The good news is that he is now Covid negative,” said Charan in the video message.

He further said that he had previously said about his health condition now did not matter if he was positive or negative, as the family members were hoping for his lungs to heal fast.

They are healing, but they are taking time Charan said adding over the weekend, they had a small celebration for mother and father for their wedding anniversary.

“Dad is watching a lot of cricket and tennis on his iPad, he is happy that the seasons have started and is looking forward to the IPL. He is writing and communicating a lot and is not under sedation. He is very clear and bright and physiotherapy is going on as planned,” Charan said.

He said that the family is thankful of the wishes and prayers.

SPB was admitted to a Chennai-based hospital on August 5 after he tested positive for coronavirus.
